Waste management and compliance varies according to legislation in different countries. Depending on such legislation, manufacturers and/or importers of electronic and electrical goods, which need to be registered in each specific country, have to join an authorised "producer compliance scheme", also known as a WEEE compliance scheme. Their responsibility is to comply with collecting and recycling scheme in each specific country.
